 Custom tours and routes

We also provide custom route creation and guided trips, if your group is looking for something specific. We can also design and lead mountain bike excursions that take in Vermont’s amazing variety of trails. As long time riders, we know Vermont’s trails well and can provide unique routes that link up different trail systems for a more backcountry experience. If you have questions or ideas, give us a call.

  • Is this the right tour for me?

The best way to find out if one of our tours is a good fit for you is to give us a call or send an email. Our tours are flexible and adaptable and the best way to figure out what works is to chat. That said, our tours generally include around 40 miles/day with about 4,000 feet of climbing. That’s about 5 hours (with multiples stops including a longer lunch) of actual riding a day. No prior experience bikepacking or Vermont dirt riding required.

  • What do you mean by Vermont dirt?

Riding Vermont dirt takes on a few forms. There are gravel roads, which are generally smooth and are more hardpacked dirt than loose gravel. Then there is doubletrack, which is a bit more chunky than the gravel roads but is not technical. Lastly there is singletrack, which ranges from flowy to chunky. Our tours stick to mostly gravel roads and doubletrack, though we do like to throw in some mellow singletrack when appropriate.

  • What type of bike should I bring?

All Ramble tours can be ridden on a gravel bike with 40mm wide tires. They can also be ridden on a hardtail mountain bike. It’s all a question of comfort and personal choice. If you have a bike question, feel free to contact us. We love talking bikes!

  • Can I bring my ebike?

Sorry! We love to see more people getting on bikes but, at this time, we don’t have the charging power to keep an ebike running for multiple days. If you’re looking for a lower mileage tour, on a non-ebike bike, let us know and we can look into modifying our current routes.

  • Can I sign up as an individual or do I have to sign up with a group?

Either works for us. If you want to sign up for a trip as an individual and meet some new friends, that sounds awesome. If you have a group of buddies and want to ride together, that sounds awesome too. Regardless of who is on our tours, we create a supportive and inclusive group culture where riders feel welcomed and appreciated.

  • Does bikepacking mean I carry all my own gear?

Generally, yes, bikepacking involves carrying your tent, sleeping bags, clothes and the rest of your gear with you. You don’t have to carry all your own food, except for daily snacks, or cooking equipment. If you have a bulky item that just won’t fit on your bike, we have lots of options to help lighten the load.

  • Where are we camping?

We partner with private landowners to create unique camping experiences. These are not campgrounds but rather an awesome place to camp that is used exclusively for Ramble trips. Each camp spot has plenty of room to spread out.
